I have a 2013 r-177 with the 1/2 rail track for the r-dome. I am considering replacing the 1/2" rail with the 5/8" track and getting the dome. Has anyone had experience doing this and in general what are the comments on the r-dome?

You don't need to do any such thing. Just buy a dome. All domes manufactured in the last 4 years will fit the keder rail on your pod. The ONLY time there might be an issue is with a mid 2011 or OLDER pod. they have a smaller keder rail.

Thank you. I'm getting some bad information from the dealer. They told me that the "new" domes will not fit in the 1/2" rail.  Do you have any experience with the dome? Is it worth the $850 I am being quoted?

Yes.. I have "experience" with the dome. Maybe 250 days of dome use in total.. LOL

$850 is a bit high. Dealers set their own price point. If you cruise the classifieds here, Domes show up fairly often. We paid $250 for our spare dome, from another owner who didn't like it. Around $350 + shipping is probably what most sell for. As far as worth it. People who use and like the dome.. well like it..  :)

It's a Dometic A&E Cabana Awning...  LINK

Thank you for the feedback and link. I'll do some looking at the classified ads. When we originally bought our pod new, the cost of the dome was around $500.

We love our dome . It offers privacy, shade and aim protection. It also is a great expanded space for the pod. We use it when we are set up for more than 2days as long as there is room on the site. The dome does take up al most as much space as the R Pod itself. It is easy to install after you do it a couple. Of times. Watc the You tube video and practice at home. Search this forum and you will see several posts about the r dome. The thought
S are divided-the people that like them really like them and use them. Other people think they are too much trouble, too big or other objections.
Count us as one that loves it, counts on it and uses it.there are some Rdome pictures on the mod page

Vann, thank you for the reply. I am still thinking about it, but I am definitely tending toward getting one. One question. When the dome is set up, what is the total width? How wide of a space do you need to set it up in?
