Hi All! We are new, or more accurately soon-to-be-new-owners of a 2017 179, saying hello from PA with a customary forum first post introduction. I'm Dan, my wife is Michele and we are patiently\eagerly awaiting delivery of our R-Pod. This is our first TT and we are upgrading from tent camping. I'm anxious to post a few questions while we wait and dive into some of the tech and mods discussions.

This is our camping rig, the TV is a 2011 JKU Rubicon 6-speed with a few upgrades.

**Skip to page 3 for my personal "Jeep Edition" Modifications, Lift, Wheels, Tires and Details**

I must admit, it took a very long time (2 years) to finally decide which model to buy, plus we are new to the RV lifestyle. We think the 179 offers the best balance of features and comfort.

I'll come back to this thread over the next few months and add some pictures and feedback of our adventures.

Welcome.  That awesome Jeep kind of steals the show from the RPod. :).    I have been deciding which rPod for a year now. I like the 179 (EXCEPT the uneven dinette issue).  I've been leaning towards the the 178, and I like the 180, but I don't think my daughter would appreciate such tiny sleeping spot.    Anything that helped sway you one way or another?

xfitpanther welcome to the group! We have a 179 and previously owned a 171 that we used for 5 years. The 179 has a large kitchen area, with a lot of storage. My wife and I usually travel alone so we have never used the dinette as a bed. But i have read, that it is not very comfortable. We have toured the 180, but found that the fixed dinette was kind of small and restrictive.
I would suggest heading to a dealership and tour thru them for and hour or so each, lay on the beds sit around the table and really feel them out. When we bought our dealer was great about it.

Thanks for the welcome folks and thanks for the Jeep compliment! It turns heads wherever we go.

I asked my sales guy about the dinette table "sleep mode" and he swears the table drops lower and allows for the extra cushions to sit level on the table top to create a larger sleep area. I told him it sounds obvious that it would do that, yes, but please walk over and try it out for yourself just to be certain because I have pictures of the table being 3 inches too high. He should get back to me soon so I'll post up what I find out.

Honestly, I wanted the 178 first and the wife wanted the 179. What swayed me was the 179's couch. For the 2 of us, it seemed better to have a couch and that it would be far more useful to relax or ride out storms and weather than the U dinette of the 178. We felt even if we ditched the table, we'd still love having a couch.

Here are 2 different 2017 179s.  One of them appears to have the footstool things shoved up under the bench on both sides.  However, the other one looks"normal".   Has something changed from the 2016?

Those are good pics thanks! The 2016 seats that we saw didn't seem like they could slide under like that, in fact, they seemed solidly bolted to the floor. If the table in the lowered position is correct, then that looks like it will accept the back cushion and probably a thin extra cushion in the corner which would level the entire surface in to a larger sleep area. I sure hope the 17 has the design fine tuned.

I found this on a 2017 search which really looks good, that back cushion should fit perfect in the remaining spot:

Ok, I see it now. The left picture is with the slide pulled all the way in. The right picture is with the slide pushed all the way out. The seats must still be bolted to the floor.
