Ha anyone mounted a generator on the tongue of a POD? I have a Honda 3000is and wonder if it is to heavy to put on the tongue, would be a perfect place for it though, pros and cons?

I think it all depends on the weight that your hitch can handle. Add the weight of the tongue to the weight of your generatorand see if this is too much for your Hitch to handle

I am new at this and don't know how to calculate that. I have an Equal-I-zer WDH, 6000lbs. and my TV is a Chevy Silverado 1500, any advise?

The current tongue weight should be with your R-pod. I am not sure if that includes the propane and battery though. If you want to be absolutley sure you can tow the R-pod to a weigh station and set the tongue on the scale with the campers wheels off of the scale, then look at what the weight is on the scale. Add the wight of your genny and find out what the weight is that your hitch will support. Considering the TV you are using I would not think you need to to worry about it's capacity.
Other may have a better answer though. Hope this helps.

Gregm, many thanks. I really don't think that another 135 pounds on the hitch I have will be a big deal. If anyone else has thoughts I would appreciate hearing them. I will keep researching the issue.

I dunno. 135 lbs of generator plus a battery and a propane tank and a WDH plus the weight of the raw tongue itself and you may be over 500 lbs. Not sure what your TV is rated, but that's a good bit of tongue weight for a pod.
You'd probably want to do some kind of shock mount too to avoid the noise and vibration of the generator being transmitted through the frame to every inch of the pod. TT |

I've mounted my generator on the tongue. Details are at this link. While the rack and generator add significant weight, the Equal-i-zer hitch I have handles it just fine. A couple of mods I am in the process of making will add weight to the back, thus lightening the tongue weight a bit. I will post details in my mods when I finish.
