I've been reading about surge protectors for RV's.  Being new to the RPod world (New 2015 178 bought at the end of last summer), I wanted to know if any of the more experienced RPod owners would recommend purchasing a surge protector.

I am going leaving shortly for a trip up Lake Superior and the North Shore and want to be ready for anything that part of the country might offer weather wise. So far, I haven't needed anything (travelled through the Canadian Rockies a couple of weeks ago)...just want to make sure I protect my investment.

Thanks for any advice offered.

We use a hardwired one. It's in my mods folder. It's "insurance". Many RVers go decades without using one. Some get hit the first time out with a surge or sag and have damage..

I recommend one. I use the portable Surge Guard

Traveling to strange CGs you also need a water pressure regulator. Most CGs don't exceed 60 psi, but I'm sitting in a state park with 100+ psi pressure. A water filter, pressure regulator, and surge protector and you're good to go.

This last weekend we were in a sweet COE park in TN, my tattletale on my pressure gauge was at 85psi when we were packing up Sunday.. It spiked at some point between then and Thursday morning when I hooked up and had a solid 45psi.
