I recently went to a camp ground and hooked up a hose for water. After about 3 hours I noticed my previously empty water tank was now full and water slowly poured out the water tank fill inlet. Any reason why the water tank would fill up while using city water?

Let me summarize what I have read about this situation. I have not experienced it myself.

A stuck check valve for the fresh water tank to water pump can cause this. The solution I have read is:
1. disconnect the city water connection.
2. (since your tank is full) Turn the pump on.
3. Open faucets to let the water run and (hopefully) clear out whatever is blocking the check valve. You may need to do this a few times.
4. Turn off pump.
5. Reconnect city water hose. If the tank does not fill and overflow, you have cured the problem. If not, then you may need to repeat the above steps.
6. If that still does not work, then you may have a bad check valve.

Hopefully, it will work.

Note that the check valve involved is physically part of the pump. If it remains defective the pump will not be able to maintain pressure and will cycle frequently even when no water is being used.
