We had previously stayed at the Holly Point campground in the spring. We liked it so much, that we wanted to go back. This past week was perfect for the trip. The weather was cool, but not cold. We were able to reserve the same campsite we had used in the spring. We arrived on Monday the 24th and left on Friday the 28th.

Holly Point Campground is part of the NC Parks system. The campground had a mix of sites with electrical (20A and 30A) and water hookups. There are no sewer hookups. There is a dump station. There are bath houses. Hot water is supplied to the bath houses with tankless systems, so there is no danger of running out of hot water in the middle of a shower. The campground also has two swimming areas and a boat launching ramp and dock.

Rates for this campground (and other NC parks campgrounds range from $15 for primitive sites (no hookups) to $20 for the sites with electric and water hookups.

Because we stayed during the week, the campground was almost empty until Friday when the weekend campers started to arrive. It was very quiet and peaceful. The only exception was the occasional jet headed toward the Raleigh-Durham airport. We gave one tour of our R-Pod and answered questions from some others. There was a couple with a new A-Liner there. This was their first trip camping trip. I was able to help answer a number of questions for them.

This report would not be complete without a picture.

We had a family camp out at Holly Point in 2015. Great campground & it is nice that it is only 2 hours from where we live.

Here's some more pictures:

The water was still high in the lake. The Army Corps of Engineers has started releasing water. They had not done so earlier so as to not exacerbate the flooding downstream.
