Fellow Podders:  Do any of you ever pull a small trailer attached to the receiver hitch on the rear of the pod.  I am disabled and I have a Recumbent Tricycle that I would like to take camping.  I could remove the spare tire carrier from the receiver hitch and purchase one of the aluminum platforms for the trike, but I am afraid that the weight of the platform and the weight of the trike would be too heavy for the receiver hitch on the r pod(the trike is quite heavy).  If I could attach a small trailer that would hold my trike then the weight would not be solely on the r pod receiver.  I would be pulling the trailer rather than having all of the weight on the r pod receiver hitch.  It would be a small trailer, only about 3 feet long.  Also, is it legal to pull a camper and then a trailer behind the camper?

Is this a stupid idea, or what?  I know it may be somewhat harder to maneuver.  Any input will be greatly  appreciated.

I don't think it would be a good idea. I don't know if states allow someone with a passenger car license to drive a tandem trailer setup. You might better ask your department of motor vehicles whether it is legal to do so. Backing would be virtually impossible with tandem towing.

RV Roadtrips has a web page about triple towing. You might do well to check that out. It may provide the answers you need.

Usually only legal if the first camper in the chain is a 5th-wheel, and even then not legal in all states.  Plus the hitch on the pod isn't designed for towing.
