The HRE may be better for dirt and gravel roads. I forget what stock tires came on our new 180 but it is probably a safe bet they are not the best on the planet. Will likely replace when bearings need repacking assuming they last even that long.

The tires we had on our 2010 171 lasted the 5+
years that we owned the 171, we had over 15 thousand miles on it when we traded it in for our 179. We had them inspected each year by our mechanic when he did the trailer inspection. Present tires have over 8 thousand miles on them and are still looking good.

The factory tires aren't great and if you get one of the larger Pods, they are barely adequate weight-rating wise. They're also a little low on the speed rating.
If you want good tires, look at ones that have a D weight rating. Most also will handle higher speeds. We put Carlisle Radial Trail HD tires on our 179 after blowing out both factory tires on one long trip and couldn't be happier.

+1 on Carlisle tires. I have one complete season on mine, with no issues. I think those that upgrade to "D load" tires are wise persons.

My 2015 178 came with Grand Ride 205/75R14s, C rated. I honestly had no problem with them. BUT I didn't like the sidewall flex and went to Carlisle tires due to fact I could get them in a D rate. I feel safer.

I don't know. We put many thousands of miles on the factory tires with no problems. We replaced them due to issues that had nothing to do with the tires themselves
