I have a new 180 and after about two months on the first try to extend or retract the slide out nothing happens no noise no movement. Of course the natural reaction is to release the switch and try again and it functions normally. Is this a develping problem a possible switch or relay issue or just something to live with. Also on a 180 if stranded with the slide out extended where is the motor access to troubleshoot. Thank you the forum has really helped me learn about my new unit. Steve

I wondered also what would happen if the slide-out motors failed to move the unit. I looked at some YouTube videos which showed how to disengage the motors and manually retract the slide and then brace it so that it would not slide back out when the trailer was moving. You would not be stranded if there were a failure.

That being said, I would get it to the dealer for a check since it is under warranty. Your dealer's service department would be the best ones to diagnose why this happened, especially if it happens again.

R-pod Maintenance

Here are some great videos that Lippert did with maintenance and operational information for the Schwintek slide system.

I probably copied these from a previous post but I don't remember who posted them so I apologize for not giving credit to the original poster.

Does anyone know where the Schwintec slide drive controller is in a 178?  I'm picking up my new 178 Friday, and I want to make sure I know where it is when I talk with the dealer's prep tech.

My 180 does the exact same thing.  Has done it since new two years ago.  My heart always skips a beat when it happens, but what a sigh of relief when it works on the second try.

On our 2016-178 the controller is mounted on the outside wall beneath the kitchen cabinet slideout.  It and the water pump are both accessible by removing 2 access panels down at floor level.

Our 17 1/2 179 does the same thing. I don't think it's an issue.

Thanks  - I thought I as going to find the water pump under the queen bed - so my experience with the dealer when I pick it up on Friday ought to be an interesting experience!
