We put our closet lying down in the back of the van where it holds cold weather clothing and extra towels and sheets.

How's this for an awning when your trip is too short for putting up the R-Dome?  I would love something simple like this!

(Pssst . . . of course I would NEVER Disapprove trade the R-Pod for a T@b trailer!)

Dang, looks like my Granny's quilt or a tablecloth. But I like the color that it gives to the campsiteStar
By posting this you probably have set off a blizzard of "how-to-doers" And I look forward to reading the  reviews!

The T@b must be popular in the UK.  The UK websites had all kinds of fabric designs for the awning -- they were all pretty colorful!

If you leave the front and sides off the rDome, that's pretty much what it looks like, except the sides come up higher.

I have noticed that downsizing is the norm in Europe. And the lightweight caravans.
I think the TAB is smaller, or is it?Stern Smile Sure looks to be.

That's true, Mountain Mist.  I lived in England for 3 years.  It's very common to see lightweight caravans being pulled with small to midsize cars, AND they get good mileage with the petrol -- okay, okay -- with gas!

Well, true, but don't you think this awning would be easier and take less time to set up than the dome?

Not so sure about that, Diane. It has a track, same as dome, pegs down at front, same as dome and looks like it has roof poles, same as dome. Drawbacks are apparent too. Not much shelter from mosquitoes, rain or sun and no privacy either. The dome does not take much to set up. I was surprised after reading all the negative comments. Most shelters/tents etc. are easier with two people but I am pretty sure I could do it myself especially with a TWO step ladder and if I took the screens  on the front and sides off to reduce the weight and smothering effect of too much fabric.

Bette, I have yet to set my dome up.  Maybe I will this weekend if my campsite has enough room, and after I've watched Pawpod's solo video one more time.  Maybe I am letting myself be misled by the lack of fabric in the photo.  I think it depends on what you want the R-dome for really -  either a simple covered awning over the door, or a screenroom with more livable space.
