Hi, we are newbies and just purchased an 183g--so excited!
Is it true that the slideout won't work unless you're connected to AC power? Or would having a second battery solve the power problem?
Many thanks for any advice!

It works fine on 12V. If we're boondocking, we typically leave the Pod plugged into our TV until after we've extended the slide.

Thanks! We have a fully charged Interstate HD-24 marine/RV battery, and the slide out will not operate. SO I guess we have a problem?

check that the battery connections are tight, make sure the fuse isn't blown. read up on the scwintek system. it will give you trouble shooting codes on the controller.

1 question , and the answer matters and I am not trying to be rude.. How do you know your battery is fully charged and healthy?

Thanks, we will get the battery checked--it is showing a full charge but may not be healthy. Thanks for all the great advice.

The slide motor will be 12 volt. So if it works plugged into shore power 120VAC, then the converter is providing  the 12 volts needed. If It does NOT work when unplugged, then you have a battery/supply connection problem. The battery is not connected? A fuse blew or breaker tripped? Battery is in very poor state? Need to do a load test after 100% charging.

Ditto! Depending, the batteries can go flat pretty quick.

+1 on the load test. If the battery has developed a high internal resistance, it won't be apparent until the battery starts pumping out amps.

Don&Amy,
  Great to meet you!!
Everyone else, Thanks for all the great advice. We purchased another battery yesterday and the slideout is working beautifully on 12V. Because the R-Pod is new and the dealer supplied us with a "new, fully charged" marine battery when we picked it up 2 weeks ago, we were second-guessing everything. Turns out that they gave us a dud--we'll get them to replace it!
