Fantastic !!! Thank you for the pics. I'm Going to busy this winter. And if I remember, you said the roll up doors were 1/4 slats glued to cloth. My first one will be over the sink, then over the bunk bed. To the Appliance store for a cardboard shipping box. Thanks again!

I made a template out of cardboard put it on 1/4" plywood but made it about 3/4" longer at the bottom so you can scribe and fit it then trim what is hanging over at the bottom

Outside of replacing our mattress after our 3rd outing, replacing the rear window curtain was our 2nd mod we did on our 177.  As others have done we installed a 2x cell cellular shade, it is easily held against the sloping back wall with a couple of plastic pins to hold it in place.  My wife took the curtain and made a valence out of it.  We have never had any issues with the stock window blinds since we picked up our pod in March 2011.  We did think of replacing them with the cellular shades but thought it may be a problem if we want air flow and privacy at the same time.

Your cellular shades look very nice, so do the throw pillows!

I also put in cellular shades, no strings hanging around.

Well after more time spent in our 179, I'm leaning towards removing the blinds on the bed windows, and making curtains to replace them. You can't sit up in bed and comfortably lean against blinds the way you can with curtains, plus it's likely to damage them. If I remove the blinds think I'll keep the valances in place for the shelf rests mentioned in this thread. Anyone else replaced the blinds but kept the valances? Jen, did you ever retrieve your valances and re-install them?

Thanks Live2Camp! Heart I love the idea of black out fabric with tension rod inside the valance. Honestly if I would have thought to do that before removing my valances I probably would have. I am noticing all the mods with the shelf over the bed that rest on those valances and kicking myself. I might add them back one day. My husband stored them in the attic and I dare not ask him to retrieve them in the middle of summer lol.

As someone who sews, I expected the blinds to be something I'd want to immediately replace with something I could make better. Or at least prettier Smile  I'm actually surprised though, that they are as good as they are. You definitely have to pull / push them evenly. I do that by just pushing up/pulling down with one hand in the middle. I think WhoaBabe's gussied-up versions are delightful (and very helpful blog by the way Jen!). Another approach, as a quick & easy fix, is to put black-out fabric (you can get it in white/ivory) on a tension rod that fits inside the valance. A more permanent approach would be to add rods over the blinds to add curtain fabric (as WhoaBabe's people did). I would go back to the dealer about your blinds coming apart - they definitely sound defective.

Although they were completely functional for me...I did not like the shades either. I took down the valances by the bedroom windows and added curtains. Later I ended up putting the shades back on- after I painted them- I just felt like I needed additional privacy when getting dressed. If it would have been in the budget I would have installed the cellular roll up kind.
