Topic: Comparing r-pod 179 and Geo Pro G19FD Posted: 08 Aug 2017 at 8:58pm |
Was wondering if anyone was well versed in these 2 rv's. I'm just starting out in the process of looking and any help would be greatly appreciated.

In looking at it just online I think the rpod is more bang for your buck... better floor plan, slide out and looks to be more outside storage.

There are several models of the Geo Pro. I think the G17RK most closely resembles the R-179. The G19FD and G19FBS seem a little bigger. I don't care for the G19FD because of the couch/bed conversion. I prefer the bed to "stay" a bed. That said, being able to walk on either side of the bed is nice.

Poking around the Geo Pro G19FD goes for between $15,000 and $24,600. I would call that mostly similar, except that's quite a range.

We looked at them, the Geo was a bit heavier and more expensive. It also looked a lot less aerodynamic.

"It also looked a lot less aerodynamic.".. the pod is no slip streamer... In fact of our 3 TT's it was the smallest and lightest.. and we got/get +/- ONE mpg towing it vs the Airstream or Lance. The real issue is, the Geo has been out only a couple months, very few people have seen them at all...

You are right, "aerodynamic" is not a good way to describe the pod, but it is an easier pull on the highway than my old blunt nose square tailed Flagstaff. This weekend I borrowed a utility trailer with a walk up ramp that stored vertically to move some of my son's stuff to his new dorm. It was a 700 mile round trip, and that ramp was such an air dam that my gas mileage was worse than pulling the pod, despite the trailer being over a ton lighter!
