I have a 2011 171 Pod.
A few years ago, I enclosed the propane and battery tow area above the hitch so I had two 20 lb propane tanks and the battery under there. It worked really well.
Then I bought a Thetford SmartTote back-up sewage tank for dry camping. The problem was where to put it as my Ram 1500 (with a canopy) has drawers of camping equipment under a false floor and if the sewage leaked in there it would be a bad thing.
The solution was to stow the sewage tank vertically above the battery area, flat against the Pod front wall.
I can now stow the tank (empty) in this compartment and I have a single 30 lb propane tank with a battery. The plan is to add a second battery soon. There is also a small area above the propane to stow items such as sewage connections etc. I am installing a Perko battery selector switch on the outside for ease of switching batteries. This will save messing with battery terminals when the Pod is going to be parked for extended periods.
With a solar panel atop my truck, I can now boon-dock for extended periods. We shall be trying it all out with a trip to Arizona in early 2018.

I did something similar, I enclosed the whole triangle of the hitch and added a nose up front.
If you want something done right, do it yourself.
