Topic: refrigerator condensation switch??? Posted: 10 Apr 2018 at 8:37am |
We bought a used 179 late last fall and I am just now starting to dewinterize and work on it. I remember that some owners have written about a condensation heater of some kind included with the refrigerator. since we mostly boondock, I am interested in knowing more and possibly disabling this battery dependent switch.
Can someone give me the real information about this switch- Thank you Vanng

I need to go out and look in my Pod. If you have a "climate control" switch it is usually visible somewhere around the freezer door when open. Maybe the underside. When "ON" it energizes a 12V heat strip that can drain your battery when dry camping. I don't recall if I have one or not. Also I have been told some just have a 0 or 1 and O is off. Basically it applies heat that is supposed to reduce condensation, and thus not help produce mold.

The condensation control is a heater strip built into the frame around the freezer door of larger two door refrigerators. It must be disconnected for boondocking to save battery life. The small fridges in RPODs do not have these heaters.
