Check your owner's manual.

I have a 2017 Tacoma. The owner's manual states "sway control for trailers over 3000lb, weight distribution for trailers over 5000lb."

Given the R-Pod full up would only be around 3000lb, I'd only think sway control is required. I don't have that yet, but will be getting a bar and installing it sometime soon. I do have airbags in the back of my truck, since I usually have 2-300lb in the back. The airbags level the truck and really prevent porpoising when driving.

2011 Silverado with Equalizer WDH....makes a big difference in the way it rides and handles compared to without WDH.  Bumps are not as bouncy like a porpoise, sway is very diminished, my safety confidence factor is increased.
