2017 model 180 out of warranty. I just discovered the dreaded shower drain leak that I have read about. As you all know very little room to work in there and only leaks with weight in the shower. I want to fix this the right way and I am thinking of removal of the shower pan( if possible ) reinforcing the support board and of course identify the source of the leak. Any guidance for the removal of tha pan pictures etc would be greatly appreciated. This forum is wonderful and has helped me in so many ways. Thank you.

If I remember right sadly removing the pan means disassembling the shower stall. It all screws in not hard to take apart I imagine just a PIA. I will bet the reason your shower leaks is because the drain flange nut is loose. Your right there is very little room to work in under the shower pan. Google "Oil Filter Pliers" and go down to Harbor Freight or where ever and buy one which will give the grip to tighten this nut. It's one of those tools everyone should have and carry IMHO. If you wish buy some plumber putty, disassemble the drain and reassemble with new putty. As for the flexing in the floor pan you can block it up using some cut off 2X4 scrap and silicon calk to glue in place. That's what fixed my leaky shower drain, it should do the same for yours. Best of luck!

If you have kids with a mechanical aptitude they can be wonderful resources for repairing things in tight spaces.  I used to send my son into hard to reach places on our sail boat to fix stuff and not only did he improve his mechanical skills, he fixed what needed to be done.  In fact, later when he was in high school he got a job with a sailing club in their boat maintenance department and earned some pretty good money.

Thank you. All I have are 2 dogs that will eat the plumbers putty. I do have an oil filter pliers and am thinking of enlarging the access if I can find an appropriately sized new cover. Tough issue but I have to fix it.

If you do have a pair of oil filter pliers, not the band type of oil filter wrench but the pliers, you can with this tool get enough grip and room to tighten this drain flange nut. I was also able to slide a drop light under my pan which helped greatly with facilitate tighten this nut and measuring then inserting a couple wooden blocks to brace the floor. If you do by chance find a larger access cover that matches the drain pain please do post the source and a photo of it for everyone on this list benefit. Don't worry about the dogs eating the putty there is not that much they can get to unless you leave the can out and open and then you may end up with two constipated dogs!

The shower leak was drain flange nut. Was able to tighten using a screw driver and the palm of my hand as a hammer to tighten the nut. Sealed with plumbers putty around drain prior to that. The flexing was a big problem all fixed with the wood block technique. Thank you all for the advice.

We did the same thing to our shower.  Even if your shower is not leaking I would recommend opening the oval shower cover and gluing some wood blocks in place so that the floor of the shower can support your weight.  We need to do this in our trailer as well as the floor drops around an inch when you step in.  Only a matter of time before we get a leak.
