   I would like to consider moving the tv toward my feet too but then I guess, I couldn't see it from the sofa.  I probably will have to move it one day as I suspect that my husband will break it off one day getting in or out of bed.  

I think someone else on here had an idea about redoing the slide to make a table and seat but I am not sure that they ever did it.  With the slide out mechanism underneath the back and center. of the slideout, I am not sure if it can be done or not.  We did cut out the thin false front on half the sofa (under the skirt) to place hiking boots while we are sleeping.
