So I have this brand new, 2019 RPOD 179 and I'm a bit disappointed in the workmanship, but from what I read it's supposedly better than the competition... I don't regret the purchase at all and love the camper, it's just the little things that are frustrating me....

Do you guys mind offering some guidance on what you would do to fix this situation?

great campers.....I'd do one of two things for both...

possibly a 1" molly bolt for the shades and a plastic screw for the shower to fit the anchor.

or...

if you are in Portland, make a trip to the factory in Salem, OR.  Short drive if indeed you are in Portland.  Or talk with your dealer if they are local.

Easy fixes Pete, but I know how you feel.

Congrats on your rpod, we are also very happy with ours although there were a few irritating things like you have that need addressing.

I'm guessing your shower anchor is broken, the plunger that spreads out the inside portion is missing, so you should get a replacement product similar to this...

AP Products 013-140 1" White Plastic Rivet

As far as the wall anchors are concerned, you could use typical wall anchors but i would cut the tip off a bit so they only penetrate the wall by 1/2 or 3/4 inch...

Agree with Kup pod.

Broken fastener.  How you replace depends on how fussy you are.

In my 2018 R-pod 189 I have had pretty good luck with a variety of wall anchors.
The ones that hold the most seem to be essentially a giant screw which grips the wall.

The picture shows a plastic one with screw. But I have found the brass ones to take a normal 7/8ths inch screw like it was threaded for it. Failed at 130 pounds for the brass one.

And if I am concerned about it being a smidge long, I take a heavy pliers or cutter and clip a bit off the point.  Trickiest part was finding the size drill that would allow it to start easily and as small as possible.

Those go in nice and flush. Seem to hold a lot.

I used a combination of those and VHB tape with inverted shelf brackets to hold up my shelf over the bed.

Thanks for the suggestions, folks!

If the wall is hollow, should I spray some expanding foam or something in first to help the anchor? That wood seems awfully thin for an anchor...

The wall isn't hollow. The walls have foam insulation in them, between the aluminum framing.

New trailer, hold the manufacturer responsibly by demanding they make it right.

I agree with the workmanship being less than stellar.  My 2017.5 177 has finger-shaped glue marks on the white paneling above the bed and the dinette.  They do not come off.

You'd do well to get a ladder and check the caulking of the plastic channel inserts on the roof as well.  The plastic channel inserts on mine were cracked and the caulking didn't cover the cracks.

These are little things but do not make me comfortable.  That said, all my interactions with Forest River Support and Parts has been great.

I needed more shower wall anchors (plastic blind rivets) since the plastic panels expanded in warm temps and popped the silicone caulking off.  I got them direct from Forest River.

I also had to get a replacement stainless steel sink since I dumped the contents of my dehumidifiers (DriZair) in the sink and left the fluid in there quite a while.  As a result, I got several corrosion spots.
