Greetings from Minnesota!

I recently purchased a 2019 R-Pod 171. I'm pulling it with a 2016 Toyota Tacoma. This is my first truck and my first trailer. My dog Frankie and I just returned from our first trip. From Minneapolis to Helena, MT and back. Over 3,200 miles. Go big or go home, right? I learned a lot and still have lots more to learn. I have family in Montana so it's a trip I plan to take every year. I'm curious if anyone else has had the kind of issues I had.
  • the screws on one of the fenders came loose on the way out. My son tried tightening them, but by the time I got home 2 of the screws had fallen out and the fender was flapping around.
  • i discovered daylight coming through a hole in the outside wall where some wires were fed through. It's on the side where all of the hookups are. And the brace for the bench isn't attached to anything.
  • I came home with a list of 7 things that need to be fixed. It's all covered under warranty, but man I was disappointed about the workmanship.
I'm curious if anyone else has had so many issues. I don't want to regret buying it.

We have had none of those issues. It sounds to me like you have some warranty work to be done. Hopefully you have a good dealer.

One thing you did not mention, but is a common issue is the hangars for the black and gray tanks. DO double check those before your next outing, and if you are like many of us, you will add a second strap for each one.

Yes, the poop chute ….I mean waste water discharge hangar strap/bracket WILL fail, unless yours has some new style of military grade factory support bracket.

And yeah its kinda normal to have a few issues...mine have so far been minor and fixed with a few tools, but the big one for me, other than the broken bracket, was that the pigtail fitting from the propane tank to the regulator was leaking. Be sure to bubble test all of your propane fittings.

We are now on our second Pod-we had a 173 for 5 years and now have our 179 for 2 years. so we have had our share of small problems.  None so large that we don't love our pod!

small issues will always show up whether a new rv or one that has been in service for a long time.Remember that you are talking about a small house that is traveling down the road at 60 mph-that's like being in an continuous small earthquake.

I don't mean to make light of your issues.  almost all of us have had minor problems.  Maintenance is a constant part of rv ownership/use.  Most of the problems are easily dealt with and will not reoccur.

enjoy your new pod

In addition to our Pod, we have a LaCrosse by Primetime.  We call it our Taj Mahaulable.  We we got it several years ago we made a problem list of "minor" repairs that needed to be taken care of under warranty.  I believe there were 32 items on the list and it took the dealer 3 months to get parts and the work done.  We have had almost no issues with the 179 and haven't had to take back to the dealer.

I almost wish I wasn't getting rid of it.  We are trading the 179 in on a 195 to be delivered in September.
Enjoy Life!!
