Has anyone removed the AC unit from any model of RPod?  If so, how did you seal the opening?

I may need to park my 177 inside my garage in a new home with 8' garage doors.

I don't use nor want to use the AC in my travels because I boondock and it's just ridiculously noisy.

By removing it, and the shroud over the bathroom vent, I think I can park the trailer inside.

Any ideas?

I think you could easily pull the AC unit out and seal the opening with marine plywood and weatherproof it as you would anything else that you install on your roof.  I would secure my electrical connection so I can find them  when I re-install the AC unit in order to sell it.

Just add another roof vent or skylight. The hole is standardized at 14 x 14.

Geewizzard, have you measured the height of your 177?  You may be okay but it seems to me it would still be over 8 feet high even without the AC.

Our 2011 177 was special ordered without A/C, microwave/convection oven and entertainment system - 9 years later no regret on that decision.  From the outside the top of our 177 looks like MarWayne's pic.  This is the way it came from the factory.  As furpod has already stated the opening is 14 x 14, same size as the fantastic fan in the bathroom.  We have noticed over the years how much better we like our setup over those that have the A/C, namely much brighter/lighter inside due to the fact of basically a skylight is in the ceiling allowing the entrance of light.  Also when needed, it is another source of air to flow in and out of the pod.

Thanks everyone!  I think I will remove the AC regardless of doing so to put it in the garage.....if it will fit.

Marwayne, your pics are a big help.  And jato, yes indeed, the more light and airflow the better.

I ordered mine without AC and they put a vent in it's place. The wiring is there in a box next to the vent.

You folks must be shorter than my 182g.. I'm 8'-5" to the roof...

Shorter than mine too.  My 180 is 8'--9.25"  I would want about 6 inches above that and have someone watch it closely before trying to back it in.
