So i'm new to this.. We just purchased an R-POD 180 and are using it for the first time.  So for the propane tank, if i'm not in a space to refill it and need to swap it out does anyone know how to do this?  it's not in the manual and i can't find this information online anywhere.  I open the top but i can't tell how it's secured.  This is much different from my last camper.

thanks in advance Embarrassed

Hi Holly,

You need to take the plastic propane tank cover off, usually held on by a small bungee underneath the cover.  The propane tank is held on by a metal ring around the tank, there is a screw that you use to loosen/tighten the ring around the tank.  Close the propane tank valve, loosen the metal ring and disconnect the propane hose from the tank.  Lift it out and replace.

Hi Holly,
You will get more informed answers than mine soon but since no one has replied yet, I can tell you about my 172 in case it helps. (I bought mine used and it was set up this way). My tank cover is secured under the trailer with a bungee cord. Once the cover is removed there is a bracket with a nut and bolt holding the tank to the frame of the trailer. You wouldn't see this with the cover on.

Good luck!  Welcome to the forum.

Yeah I got rid of that stupid plastic propane tank cover....as far as I can tell, it's there to help provide a 'finished' appearance but for me, its just in the way all the time, PLUS I swapped in a 30# tank and again, that plastic cover is just un-needed and the fit and finish of the cover and the lid it uses is a joke.

Another answer to one of my questions too, thanks! I see the front and back plastic tabs on the bottom of the cover and the small bungee cord, I assumed the first owner put the bungee there. I thought there must be another way to secure the cover because that seems so flimsy and the tabs look like they could break off easy.

I ended up using a long EPDM strap to hold mine down from the inside. There's a small hole in the front center of my cover so I hook one end of the strap there then run it inside under the tank frame back up behind the tank to hook on to one of the holes in the tank handle. Nice and secure now. And I also put some thin adhesive foam weather strip on the inside of that metal retaining strap to keep the metal to metal chafing down.

My tank cover has a small wing-nut that holds it in place located on the back of the cover.
