Hey all,

Picked up a keder rail canopy for the 2011 177 and noticed that the factory screws in the rail (9mm) make it VERY difficult to pull the rail insert through.  Tried all the tricks - lubrication, cutting the edge to an angle etc....

Thinking of pulling all the factory screws out (total PITA!), giving each location a ream out with a drill bit to create an indented space, and then re-fastening with a 3/4" pan head stainless screw - like this:

Any other ideas, suggestions etc?

I could be mistaken, and usually am, but I don't think the 3/4" ss wood screws are pan head.  They should work fine, though, if you can countersink the screws as you suggest.  They just need to be out of the path of travel of the keder rail tape.  You could also look into sewing sail slides onto the existing keder tape that slide easily in the existing rail.

Once again I have learned a new thing on this great forum.  Wasn't aware that 2011 models had rings and now I find out that 2011 models had a 9 mm keder.  My 177 was built the 1st week of January 2011 and came with sarengeti decals and a 14 mm keder rail.  Interesting!
