 Topic: Cost to replace wet floor?Posted: 22 Aug 2020 at 7:00pm |

Peeled back the linoleum to find a wet floor. Seems to be wicking in around every outside edge. IF (big if) we decide to get it fixed, what price range are we looking at? Can’t get it to a shop until Monday and there’s no point letting my imagination run away with me. Feeling sick...

Before you freak out too much, dry it out and see what happens. Can you get it under cover somewhere?Any idea where the water is getting in?

Hard to say, since at least 3 of the outer edges are wet. Could that even happen with only one leak, or is it likely multiple? Slide out and the roof/wall seams are likeliest culprits.

This trailer didn't get flooded did it?
Slide out is a typical place for leaks, I haven't heard of much trouble at the roof/wall connection. Wall to floor is another place. Spoiler attachment is probably the most common.
If it all came from one area then likely the whole floor would be wet not just the perimeter. I would remove all the finish floor material so the plywood can dry out. That might give you a better idea where the water is coming from. |

No, I think flooding is really unlikely. I pulled up as much of the vinyl as I could reach. Need to take the shower pan out next. 90% of it is wet, with drier spots under the dinette table (front), and slightly in the middle. The edges seem to be wettest. I have no idea where to start looking for the leak(s). What are some clues to look for?
One small grain of hope; the areas where I cut out the vinyl yesterday do seem a lot drier already.

Look for gaps between the walls and floor around the wet areas. Look for the floor sagging at the edges. Wall coverings delaminating. How about the possibility of plumbing leaks? Is the top seal of the slide making good contact?
If you're lucky the water might have just wicked across the floor on top of the plywood. Pull off some of the material under the trailer floor and see if its wet under there as well. Don't know if its an issue where you live or not right now but can you get the trailer inside somewhere so it doesn't get rained on until you can find and seal the leaks? Get a couple of fans blowing on the wet areas of the floor, that will help speed drying.
