It probably would not hurt if you could get an anchor into the tube to provide more grip for the screws also.

Watch this video so you get an understanding of what's inside there. There should be aluminum square tubing in the walls to attach to. You will need to seal the gap up with a good adhesive caulk, screw the corners into the Al tubes, and I'd work up some way clamp/press it together while the adhesive cures. Reseal underneath too.

The PIC im uploading is not my camper (stole it from the Fbook Podders group) but it's the same problem i'm having ( maybe not as severe) I fixed the front vertical section by putting a longer screw in and re-caulked. But the bottom front vertical section keeps coming loose after a trip. I put a screw in that section (dumb move) and nothing there for the screw to catch to, at least that i can find and didn't want to keep trying. Any ideas i can try?
