We picked up Nuestro Pod a R-176 last Fri. After a long day by the dealer of completely wiring our TV, we left the dealer about 6:00 pm for a short 25 mi drive to Nueces County Park (IB Magee Beach Park) Port Aransas, TX.  Being totally novices about camping, (prior to this our idea of camping was a Hampton Inn) I think we did pretty well. Even managed to back into our site in under 15 minutes.  We really didn't know what order to do things, we now have a numbered list, (yes we are that type of people), but we managed to get everything setup except the R-Dome. (We'll try that at home).  Everything work like it should.  Our only big shock was the first night.  We had the AC on (70+ humidity) and set on Auto.  This first time it cycled on when we were asleep liked to scared us to death. In the morning we figured out a couple of things.  1) Leave the AC fan in the On position, then you hardly notice when the compressor cycles on and off. 2) We shut all the vents on the AC except the one opposite the bathroom wall and the one pointing toward the back of the Pod. This allows for a nice flow of cool air over the sleeping area.  We had a great time and didn't mind the 3 hr pull home.

This is a great park with very clean bathroom/shower area accessed by camper only key cards. Great beach for walking and right by the ship channel.  If your ever in this part of TX it's great.

Wow that is a very nice looking CampGround!  We don't have them like that here in PA.  After a year and half we used our air condition for the first time on our last trip and I almost went deaf from it.  It sure is loud, but i noticed that others in the campground was also loud.  Maybe thats why I like the dry camping so much.

Enjoy the camper and you will pickup information as you go about camping.  I remember the very first time My wife and I took out kids out in the new to us camper.  Parked at a bottom of a very large hill an the wheels went into this gully that ran through the site and leveled it perfect!  Well guess what it Rained on Sunday morning and we found out the Popup was not water proof so out to buy tarps!  No big deal trip to K-mart Tarps and Coloring books for all got back to the camp and found out what that gully was from, water run off from the hill.  By monday the site was one messy thing of mud and the campground owners were charging $25.00 to pull your camper out.  Me being cheap did not pay it but managed to dig it with my truck.  Right before we left the seasonals across from us said if we managed to get through that weekend we would be campers for a long time.

I like the campground, too.  15 minutes isn't bad for a first time, in no time you'll be whipping it into any spot.  Try taking it to a local school or shopping mall and practicing your backing.  After a while it becomes second nature.

Yes, the A/C on the 'pod is unusually loud.  Its really designed for a much larger rig, where more material and airspace would make it quieter.  I've considered adding stick-on sound dampening material to the inside surfaces of the A/C.  Its fairly thin stuf and not too expensive, available at any auto stereo shop.  We keep the fan ON overnight too.  Acts as white noise to block out any noises from outside and as you noticed, keeps you from needing new underwear!  During the day I switch it to AUTO.
