Ouch  Hi.  I am new RPOD 179 (2015) owner.  I have read that the heater only runs on propane, but we are having difficulty figuring out how to run it on propane?  The thermostat says furnace and, when on, first blows the AC / Fan unit like crazy , then the heat below the bed went on for a little while and then shut off and it would not heat.  Any advice??  Thank you!

Interesting, I also have a 2015 179 and it's furnace thermostat is completely independent from the air conditioner. In your case it sounds like there is a single thermostat for both, which is common on the newer units. Are you getting an error code on the thermostat?

The thermostat is quite basic.  Fan / Cool / Furnace are the three choices.  Where is your heater thermostat? I have read there might be another one on the heater itself but I do not see one (although I have not removed the heater cover)

Mine is on the wall, dead  simple contact closure type when calling for heat, no connection to the air conditioner. The a/c has its own thermostat inside its interior cover.

Several other folks have posted that their integrated heat/cool thermostats have failed to turn on their furnaces lately due to loss of connection with the air conditioner, not sure which ones they have compared to yours.

If you want to confirm that the furnace works you can simply short the two wires from it to the tstat. Here is the suburban furnace manual

https://manuals.heartlandowners.org/manuals/Heating-Cooling/Furnace/Suburban/Suburban%20FURNACE_Service-and-Training-Manual-11-05-2015.pdf

It could be a problem with the furnace itself. If the furnace fan came on but no heat came out then look at the troubleshooting section. Could be the furnace never ignited.

You need to make sure that the fan is set to OFF on the thermostat so that it will not blow from the A/C unit.

Also, make sure that your propane lines are purged by lighting the stove burners for a little while before turning on the furnace.

Hi.  Wondering if the hot water heater needs to be heated up for the heat to work?
Also, anybody with this rpod know if the hot water heater can be heated via electricity or is it propane only?  Seems like the propane will run out quickly with heat and hot water running.

Are you asking if the water heater needs to be operating for the furnace to work? If so the answer is no. Totally independent systems.

The answer to your second question is yes, you can heat water either by propane or by 120Vac if you are on shore power.

The water heater doesn't use that much propane, the furnace can use quite a bit depending on how cold it is and where you set the thermostat. If you are on shore power you can use a small electric space heater and leave the furnace off to save propane.
