I have a March 2021 report that says they can no longer allow. That makes sense being it's New York.. You'll find MA & ME to be much the same.

Assuming Your traveling Rt84, there are free spots not far off the highway in the PA Delaware State Forest. You have to call them and get a permit. Yet as I say they're free! Haven't been there as of yet, but have done the same in other States. Sites are typically clean, have a fire ring and sometimes even a water source.

Called Fishkill Walmart and they said they allow overnight parking.

We decided to push past Fishkill and went all the way to to Piscataway Walmart in NJ.  They allow overnight but when I tried to make sure with manager all he said "we are not responsible for anything". It was a Walmart that closed a 11 and just didn't feel safe.  Decided to head further down the road to try to get to the Eastern Shore.  We were near the end of the Jersey Turnpike and I noticed they had truck parking.  I asked the attendant if it was ok to overnight and he said it was ok.  Felt much safer as it was open 24 hours.....it was a bit noisy but with everything closed up in the camper noise wasn't an issue.
