Topic: Whitish water from hot side of faucet? Posted: 28 May 2021 at 3:49pm |
Getting ready to host some friends for the weekend in our R-pod and everything is working just fine, except when I tested the hot water I am getting a milky white looking water with the faint sweet soap type smell. I let it run for a few minutes and it cleared up, but then the next day went out and it was doing it again. It will run clear from the bathroom and shower, but when turning on the kitchen hot I get the weird smelling whitish water. Does not happen on cold side. The water is hot, but does cool fairly fast, like maybe I'm not getting the full 6 gallons? I'm running it on electric (shore power) currently. Any ideas? Seems like maybe there is just junk in the water line from the heater to the kitchen faucet, but why wouldn't it run the gross water to the other taps as well? Stumped!

Pod was never used as a meth lab, was it? I've seen that on "Breaking Bad".
Just kidding. When was the last time you pulled anode and drained tank? f

The pod is very new to us, so I am not sure about that. I haven't drained it yet or replaced the anode. I think I will order one though because I'm thinking the previous owners may not have. To drain the tank do you just release the pressure valve and then pull the anode rod out?

Yep. You got it. Bet it might be a bit stinky in there. Stick a hose in and flush it out.

+1 on flushing the tank. The sediment can happen quickly especially with hard water and when you fill up with lots of turbulence, you can easily have sediment coming through.
Don't forget to also remove the aerator from the faucet and clean it out too - the sediment will certainly plug that up and restrict water flow coming out of the tap
