I am thinking about purchasing the RP-196, but am concerned about the placement of the bathroom - it seems to be kind of right in your face with the couch version, and it looks impossible to walk around if the table is out. I can't tell if you can access the bathroom with the slideout in or whether it is pressed against the couch. I'd love to hear people's thoughts about working and living around that center-of-the-unit bathroom placement and staring at a wall a few feet from your face when sitting on the couch. Thanks!

The bathroom is easily accessible with the slide in. You're right about the table getting in the way, which is why you might want to get some tray tables to use instead. There's a gap behind the couch where they can be stored.

I got used to looking at the wall when I had my 179, so it doesn't bother me. The skylight above the shower does brighten up the Pod during the day though if you leave the bathroom door open. If I sit on the end of the couch toward the bed, the front window provides a nice view.

I have a 196 and think it’s great. You can walk all the way through the camper with the slide in. My wife and I don’t use the table that came with the pod. That table is just not very functional for us.

Thanks for your responses! Do you think the 195 with the dinette is more functional than the 196, given that neither of you use the table that was supplied with the R-Pod? What made you choose the 196 over the 195?

I really appreciate hearing the thoughts of owners - thanks for sharing!

My first R-Pod was a 2016 179, which had a dinette and we pretty quickly swapped out the dinette cushions and table for a futon because the dinette's bed mode wasn't very functional.  I liked that modified layout enough that I wanted a sleeper sofa in my new R-Pod, so I got the 196. The sofa isn't as comfortable as the futon was, as it lacks lumbar support, but I was able to remedy that with an automotive lumbar cushion.

I used it for the podluck dinner at the last rally I went to. It's pretty functional for that purpose.

I bought a 195. But at that time, the 196 didn't exist. I have since replaced the dinette with a jack knife sofa. I prefer the sofa for comfort, since we never eat inside. I'm actually glad we got the 195, and put in our own sofa, cause forest river probably puts in a cheesy sofa. Mine makes a nice bed too.

I mainly didn't want to have to deal with anchoring a sofa to the slide bench, so I opted for the 196. Yeah, the sofa isn't the greatest, but it's comfortable once I added a lumbar pillow.
