The price of "convenience." I have not had any trouble with ours. The only time I was puzzled was when I accidentally set it to Celsius. That was easily fixed. However, I agree that independent controls are simpler. But my house has a combined control for both furnace and AC, so I don't find the combined unit in the RPod difficult. It is a lot simpler than the one in my house which is connected through my Hubitat Elevation home automation and security unit. The added complication brings with it the ability to program through the user interface on the computer and the ability to remote monitor and change settings through the phone app. We don't need that level of complexity with the RPod though.

Web interfaced tstats, Bluetooth enabled wood stoves. Dont need em. Just more stuff to break that you can't repair with home tools and equipment. And allow hackers access to your network. And I don't see any "convenience" to having the a/c tstat and furnace tstat together, I never run them at the same time anyway. I suspect the only real convenience is cost savings for FR.
IMHO. |

Auto-changeover is one advantage. During the spring/fall seasons where it might be hot one day and cold the next, auto-changeover is very convenient. But, to each his own.

Update: The repair person said it's my converter, a new one is coming tomorrow. He charged my battery though for now. My lights and thermostat run off the battery in my R-Pod. As it turns out the light bulbs I bought were perfect, I just wasn't shoving them in hard enough. lol

Thanks for the update. I was pretty sure it was a converter problem. Now you know the symptoms to look for.
