It is a H2O pressure regulator, but is it really?

So, when we bought our latest trailer, we went out and got all sorts of needed items and this included an inexpensive water pressure regulator.

The one we bought was a fixed pressure regulator, it only let's so much water through when you are using water...but after using it and thinking about it, I began doubting it.

In my mind, it will control the pressure when water is flowing..when you are actually using water at the trailer. As soon as you stop the demand, the water stops flowing....but this is the point where this type of pressure controller stops working.

The pressure in the entire line, from the water spigot to the tap in your trailer has to equalize and if the provided water pressure surges or is too much it will immediately over pressurize your trailer system. It will stay over pressurized until you turn on your water tap, and then repressurize once you turn off the tap and water stops flowing.

I went out and bought a little more expensive water pressure controller that has a built in guage and the pressure is adjustable as to what water pressure you want reaching your RV. I believe that this regulator does prevent all excessive water pressure from reaching your hose or trailer, as long as you connect it to the post tap and then connect your rv water hose to it.

Am I correct in my reasoning?
