Does anyone have experience using Eternabond Tape to seal roof seams? If so, do you recommend it? It seems like a good alternative to caulking. And does the old caulking have to be removed before applying the tape?

Thanks

I used it on the Vibe camper we had and that has been about 8 or 9 years ago and knowing the current owner as far as I know it has held up well. It was difficult to work with very sticky and you need to make sure there are no trapped bubbles. If ones doesn't mind the difficulty of using it I think it is worth using. The surface needs to be clean and I applied it over the old caulking. I applied it to every seam on the roof and the Vibe was built like the r-pods with a one piece fiberglass roof. I used it along the edges and  around the vents and antenna mount. If you needed to remove it which I never tried I think it would be very difficult. It did have a leak around the sky light over the shower but I think that was because I didn't clean the surface well enough. Every place else it has held up well like I said I know the current owners I see them every week in church he is our preacher. And we talk sometimes about our campers and he has said him and his wife enjoy the camper. "I spoke to the current owner tonight of the Vibe we sold and asked him about the eternabond tape. He said it is excelent and there has been no problem with it."

I have used eternabond tape on 2 different Rpods.  I used it to seal the rear spoiler on our 179 and flash around the roof vent fan location in our previous 173.  In both cases, the tape worked perfectly.
Read and follow the manufacturers recommendations.  As I recall, it is important to clean and prepare the surfaces correctly. the tape is available in different widths and colors.  Get the correct width-you don't want to try and cut the width very much.  the tape is incredibly sticky and stays where you put it.  Be careful and do it right the first time.
I would try to remove any of the old caulk prior to installing the tape.
I used a wallpaper roller to press over the tape once it was installed. make sure all edges are adhered and it will be permanent.
good luck

I also effectively sealed the rear spoiler with it; great product
