Anyone have an opinion on minimum "running" and "startup" wattage requirements for generators to run a (2021) Rpod 202?  I have ordered a 4250 watts running, 5350 watts start up generator. I assume this is sufficient for the Rpod 202 but I am getting the generator primarily to run a medium size home refrigerator, some lights and internet modem and a one room portable A/C since I live in an area susceptible to hurricanes, etc.

Not that familiar with the 202 but a lot of genny sizing depends on your AC and what you plan on running concurrently. The generator you have purchased should have no problem running an RV with a single AC and the usual microwave. For point of reference, there are folks on the Escape forum running their trailers on Honda Eu2200i and Eu3200i generators.

One issue that will affect your generator requirements is whether your AC unit has a "soft start" installed.  They don't come stock with the air conditioner.  There are a number of them on the market these days.  We installed the Easy Start unit:  https://www.microair.net/products/easystart-breeze-soft-starter
It works quite well reducing power demand for turning on the AC, that can often stall out a generator.

Also, be sure to consider an inverter generator as opposed to the construction site style.  The inverter generators give you a much cleaner current for electronic equipment.  We use a 3100/2800 watt uint Champion inverter generator and it is more than up to supplying all our electricity needs.  Others prefer Honda or other brands, but that is a matter of personal preference and the depth of your pocketbook.  You can also buy lower wattage generators and connect them together.  The advantage of that is that they are lighter to lift than ours.  Another consideration is a duel fuel feature.  We run ours on propane, but can easily switch to gasoline, if needed.

We have used a Honda eu2200 for the last 3 years. I made the generator changeover to propane with a Hutch Mountain kit. I also installed the Smart Start on the AC unit.

We have had solid success with the propane generator and AC addition. Both have worked flawlessly since we have had them.

The Honda unit is quiet and light enough to handle without breaking the back-it might break the bank, but seems well worth the cost.

Travel safe and often
