We finally got a chance to do some camping this year.
We spend a few short days on the Shenandoah River outside Luray at Sweetwater RV Campsite.  It is right on the river and only has two sites that have full hookups.  We were there also on New Years but this time did have one neighbor.   The weather was great and we were able to put the kayaks in the river 12 miles upstream and float right to our campsite.   The only negative and it was somewhat of a big one was that the mosquitoes were SO bad that we could not stand to be outside for any length of time at the campsite.  We did not set up the dome as we weren't there long enough to make it worth it.  Next time I will have citronella candles and see it that helps --Neighbors had these and they were outside more.

Also, we had an incredible 5 nights at Big Meadows Campground in Shenandoah National Park.  We were fortunate to meet up with Leaflin and had a miniroundup.    It was great to meet such nice people.  And I am still impressed with the wonderful portrait that she did of her dog.

Campsite F198.  It is definitely in the shade but has great views of the visiting deer and an occasional visiting skunk who showed up on our last night and spooked Craig on the way back from the showers.

Thank goodness Panzer likes to hike and to pose for pictures on the top of Little Stony Man

I wish I could carry this thought through the next few weeks.

Did you get a shuttle to the top of your kayaking route?  I'm getting out with a half-dozen friends this Saturday for our first 'yaking trip of the year.  Can't wait, due to work last year I didn't get on the water at all.

We had two cars with us as Craig actually had to leave one day to go to work and I stayed to hike a George Washington National Forest trail with Panzer.  So this did allow us to do our own shuttle. There is an outfitter  near Mile 10 but I do not know if they run a shuttle if you aren't using their kayaks or not.  http://www.shenandoahriver.com/
