It seems like I've read this question before somewhere on the forum but I can't seem to find it now. New Pod was picked up a week ago but we won't be able to use if for a couple of months thanks to a bunch of snow and 7 degree temps today.

That said we are getting prepared and would like to purchase a carpet of some kind for the R-Dome. I've heard of a type of carpet that sand goes through. Does anyone know anything about that? Also what's the best size? Thanks folks.

I went out and mesured the lenght real quick, it is a little over 12 feet and the width is around 7 or 8 feet, I can not remember exactly. I just saw in the Highways magazine from Good Sam a breathable outdoor mat or you could go to campingworld.com and see what they have to offer. We just use a small rug about 3x5 that is easy to shake out.   Goose

I think what you might be searching for that a lot of us have are the polypropelene (sp?) mats?

You can find and check them out at sites such as RvAwningMats.com.

Happy Podding..

The W store has 9x12 poly mats that are designed for camping. They are two sided like the CW ones but are less than $50. They also fold up accordion style a wrap with a velcro strap that provides a handle and are easy to store. We use one of them - it is slightly larger than the dome footprint. We put it over a set of 12 of those interlocking 2x2 hi density floor pads and get a little cushioning over hard pack or asphalt. They also kept it a bit warmer when winter camping (I think you can see photos in our winter camp thread posting.)

Those floor pads felt great under foot.
