We opened the end of the dinette bench next to the door on our 171. I cut out the plywood panel leaving the support on the floor to act as a stop for flying litter. our cat is small so it works just fine. A big cat would find it cramped.
There are several threads showing photos of this mod on the forum.

Where on the site can I find pictures of the mods, I looked an could not find them. Thinking of removing door under the bed in our 171, my only drawback is that the whole compartment is open to the back and I do not want my cat to have access to the 2 outside doors in the back.

Thanks,

Manon

No worries, the rear storage compartment is separate from the area under the bed.  Technically they are both under the bed, but there is a wall between then.  Your cat won't be clawing at the storage doors.

When you first come to the forum you'll see one sub-forum for "podmods", maintenence, etc.  That is where you'll find tons of threads on the mods.  Start with the very first one.

MMMMM!!! Interesting. Believe or not in the 2013 they left a space opened between the 2, I wondered did they forget to close it completely or is it volontary. I will try to block it either with a piece of foam or with plastic containers filled with clothes.

Seems odd that they would leave them open to each other, but good to know.
