I think that is the way of the world unless one buys vehicles far more expensive than we do.

+1 for Camper Bob.  Our 2013 177 has a white steel rim spare.

We have a new 2013 171 HRE with two aluminum wheels and a white steel spare.  My guess is that it's a money saving item for FR.  I would guess a third aluminum wheel is in the $200-$300 range.  Since it is rarely used, if ever, I will live with it.  Safe Travels.

My last camper had steel rims, which were ordered brand new when I replaced the tires so I know the bead was good (no rust).  The loss of air between trips was the same as I've seen with the aluminum rims on the pod.  Ditto on other vehicles with steel and aluminum.

Like other vehicles, I'm sure some of the "loss" that is seen is actually due to temperature differences.  If you fill them to 50 psi when it is 90 outside and then the temperature drops to 60 the internal tire pressure will noticeably drop.  My TV has a pressure readout on the dash and over the summer all four tires read 40-41.  Now that the temps have dropped they read 36-37.

Regularly checking tire pressure is a good practice no matter what material your rims are made from.  I have had aluminum rims on cars and trucks for years and have never noticed any more leaks than steel, but I still check pressures often.

Our tires are aluminum. Our neighbor told us if the rims are aluminum that tires tend to lose air pressure. This has been the case for us. So now we check tire pressure before we head out anywhere with our Rapod.

Ditto my 2010 1171, and at our roundup, our neighbors' 2012 181G, and I just saw a photo in another thread here of a pod with a white spare tire wheel on a new HRE model
Looks to me like it is standard issue..
