    Posted: 28 Apr 2013 at 8:25am
We have the tent that is custom made for the R-Pod but can't figure out how to secure the flaps to the sides of the R-Pod.  Are there male grommets or fasteners that should be on the face of the R-Pod or straps or what?
Any other hints on using this tent would be appreciated.

There should have been sucktion cups that came with the R dome.  If you have a new pod or dome.  If you do, go back to dealer and ask there about the sucktion cups.  Put the dome up so the flaps are able to go onto the front and back of the pod, makes it so you can easily get into the outside storage areas.  Happy podding.

Your "tent", (aka, R-Dome), should have a series of grommets along the hem which may be secured to the
body of the 'Pod by means of suction cups that came with the 'Dome.  At least that has been our experience.

We have found them to be marginally effective at best, and usually don't bother with them.

If you decide to try them, they will seal pretty well on the smooth surfaces of the 'Pod, but will not seal
at all on the decorative graphics.

If you do a search here in the forums for "R-Dome" or "R Dome" you'll find lots of threads where it is discussed.  There are a lot of things you can do in order to make the dome easier to install and use.

Regarding securing the side and bottom of your R-dome, we used straps or light rope (line) to the other side or the POD.  If that isn't easy, then just bring along a few 2 foot pieces of 1/4" re-bar (available at Home Depot--inexpensive), pound them in at angles and tie down to those.

We also tie down to re-bar out front for added strength.

We also have the suction cups and they will work OK if no wind or pulls on the sides or bottom.  To secure it, we do as first mentioned and it stays put that way.

You will enjoy your R-dome.

Another thing we do is put a tarp down on the floor of the R-dome to keep dust and dirt out of the pod.

We use bungies to pull the botton tight against the camper, don't worry about the flaps.

And if you have not done it yet, go to wally world and get some real stakes. Trust me, you will be glad you did.
