Calendar Event: TV/DVD Unit. Ouch!!!!! Posted: 22 Jun 2013 at 2:41pm |
Is there a prize for the person who has hit their head the most number of times on the TV/DVD unit in the r-pod 177?
I think that I could win.....
We are thinking about taking it out before I get brain damage and just putting up a shelf.
Has anyone done that?

Removing the cabinet was our first mod. We could see the location was going to cause some problems and as we didn't plan to watch tv, eliminating it was an easy decision.

Ed,
Did you put up a shelf?
Did it leave a lot of holes when you took the cabinet off?

I am interested in this as well. We have a 178 with a TV/DVD combo mounted on the panel by the door and our tunes we will get for a portable system which makes that thing over the bed unnecessary. If we just want it out, what does that leave behind, cable and electric outlet, etc?? Any suggestions?

I didn't put up shelf. That idea never occurred to me at the time. I just wanted a cleaner ceiling.
The screw holes were plugged with small plastic plugs from HD and the large opening covered over with a similar coloured panel. Not perfect by any stretch but it saves a lot of skin.
I saved the consol in case I thought it needed to reinstalled for resale

Interestingly neither of us has ever hit it..
BUT.. I plan to remove it, and add a shelf at the foot end of the bed, and mount the tv there. The only place/time we may watch tv is as we are going to sleep.. and that has been no more than 10% of the nights in the pod. But, in a 177, that is the HARDEST spot to watch tv from, since it can't be tilted down while sideways..

Well, we ended up taking the TV/DVD cabinet down. I tried to post a picture to show what it looks like when the cabinet is out but the file is too big and I keep getting an error.
Steve made an L shaped shelf above the bed. I now have a tons of storage. He is also going to add some reading lights and a 110 outlet and two cigarette lighter adapters so we can charge our phones.
