I was going to do some major mods to my 175.  In the slide-out I have the couch and in the back a queen bed.  When I camp I am always alone.  My wife doesn't go.  So here was my idea:

take out the couch and put in a small table and chair.  Then put a bunk bed mattress in place of the queen.  That would enable me to add a storage compartment in the back end next to the bed.

WRONG!
The slide-out is part of the couch.  Can't do it.  Crap!!Angry  I still might do the bed swap though.  That is something to think about.

So the couch's structure is part of the slide-out structure?

It is on mine at least.  There is a bracket that attaches to the floor.  The top of that bracket has the motor and drive track on it.  That is attached to the couch with a sheet of plywood.  So,  I could remove the couch, but I would still have this large sheet of plywood with all the junk on it still there.

I'll see if I can get a picture of it sometime today.

Can you not just add a "raised floor" type deal to cover the motor and drive for the slide? Pictures would help invision what you have. I have looked at our slide drive under the kitcheen cabinets, didn't notice it was attaced to anything but the floor..

The bracket is about 6" high.  It looks like we are getting rain all day today.  If it stops for a while I'll take a run to the camper for a pic.
