Represent!

Wish I was there, but a side benefit of me staying home is my wife and I are going to get some planning done for our big trip this summer.

We had a great time.  John and Lynn represented the R-Pods and it was their first trip in their 2 month old R-Pod.  It was 20 Friday night and 17 Saturday night and 30something during the day on Saturday.  Cindy, my nephew, and myself went geocaching Saturday morning and started a fire Saturday afternoon to start making pizza mountain pied in the mountain pie maker my nephew got for Christmas.  They came out good.  So good we were just going to keep making them for dinner but John and Lynn made an awesome lasagna and corn bread to share with us.  We sat around the fire chit chatting Saturday night and then turned in early.

Here are a few pictures.  John and Lynn were in the Rpod, I had the Class C, Cindy stayed in her van, and Busdriver was 2 sites over from us.

Made some pizza mountain pies

Cindy has this "thing" about climbing on logs and getting her picture taken

We brought and burned most of this wood
And left with this much
And what camping picture montage is complete without the obligatory picture of the campfire....and the gatorade bottle perfectly balanced on a log

Very nice trip report.  So wish I could have been there.  Anyone else make any trips out on Saturday?  Which area of the loop did you stay?  Any evidence of this "construction" they are doing?

We spent about 7 hours on Sunday and another 3 hours today wrapping up our plans for this summer so we did make good use of our time at home.  Will post about that later.

I was in C40.  They had the utilities marked and white lines painted.  It looks like they are going to do the top of the loop.  1-10 and 42-30 (don't hold me to those site numbers) and leave the bottom of the loop alone (which has more non electric sites).  I hope they make B a pet loop now.  Why should I be forced to camp with no electric or pay for full hookups when I only want electric and a pet.

Ok you's guys... not to say that those aren't winter camping pictures.. But Jan 21st up here is like -30c and about 4.5 feet of snow... Just say'en...   But would like to try winter camping, they keep Mew Lake campground open year round in Algonquin park... No electric or water but the showers/bathrooms are open from what I hear... Maybe someday we'll get brave and try it....

Hi Ron,

My information from the Park Staff and the Ontario Parks website is that there is still electricity in the winter at Mew Lake.

Cheers,

David

Hmm ok Dave thanks, electricity is good but not likely water at the dump stations? Just bring what water you want to cook with I guess? Hoping to see you next June 5th at the frog rally in Ferris Prov. park.
