Some have, most just got a valve that was threaded to fit where the cap is now. It's 1/2 NPT if I remember right.

I've considered it, my popup had them and it is definitely easier than the caps.  Probably the easiest solution is one with a nipple on one end - cut off the threads on the PEX, slide it in and use a hose clamp.  Although if you could find one that would use the original threads that would be easier.
