GH will laugh even louder when you see the street address of Big Bone Lick State Park.  I don't make this stuff up!  Google Big Bone Lick State Park and notice the name of the street on which it's located.

Thanks to all podders with helpful thoughts and good wishes, especially Newsguy12 who didn't make me giggle but did bring forth a big guffaw.  Can't wait for GH (good husband) to read about Big Bone Lick SP. I'm sure we'll stop there on way home.

There are a couple of nice places to camp that are close to Cincinnati.  One in particular is East Fork State Park, which is about 25 miles east of Cincinnati. (Hamilton is about 15 miles north of Cincy).  It's an Ohio State Park.  If you want to begin your trip south back to TN, there are a number of nice places to camp in Northern KY.  We live in Northern KY half of the year, and when we bought our Pod from Couch's this past June, we did our dry run at Big Bone Lick State Park.  Before y'all start giggling, the park gets it's name from a salt lick near an ancient bog that trapped thousands of post ice age animals like Mastodons and Wooly Mammoths.  When White Men found the lick in the 1700's, the ground was littered with these bones.  Two thousand pounds of pre-historic bones were shipped to President Thomas Jefferson.  They also have a nice onsite museum.

I will tell him.
Couchs overall was pretty good. However they really seem to lack in communication. Several emails went un-answered and with the time difference I really had to get up 4:30 5 am to start talking to them. They also promised over and over again an unrealistic delivery schedule which really burned us but, we still can't wait for the pod to show up

Unclewillis - We took delivery of our pod from Couch's just last week.  The delivery went well and was easier for us than driving to Ohio at the time.  When we took delivery from the driver we just made sure to check all the exterior to make sure that the driver did not cause any damage to the pod in route. The driver informed us he was responsible for the outside condition of the pod only in his delivery.  Hubby used a flashlight and crawled underneath to check the underbelly making sure nothing was run over or dragged underneath on the road trip, along with standing on a ladder to look at the roof to get a quick visual on the antenna and A/C to make sure there was not damage from going under something low. Also just a good walk around the exterior to look at.  Our Driver's name was Kevin and did a great job.  He mentioned having to go to NV to deliver another pod.  He did a great job in our delivery.  Please tell him hi from last weeks delivery in NC.

my experience with them was great. Ray was excellent in answering my questions on the phone. The walk through was good as well,  he was able to answer all of my questions. The only problem that I had was with Tammy in the paper work department. She was a bit rude and really needs an attitude adjustment. Jeff Couch was there as well and took over the transaction and was very nice to deal with. Overall I would give 4.5 out of 5 stars. Missing .5 of a star because of the attitude of Tammy.

Several months now after the purchase I am looking for a replacement antenna as mine got caught in a tree and the parts department hasn't returned my two messages / phone calls. Couch's is a great place to buy but I can't say much more about them. I live almost 800 miles away from there so I can't just visit the place and ask for the parts department.

Hello,
Our Rpod 176T is being delivered from Couchs as I type this. This is our first time dealing with them. If you wouldn't mind could you give me your overall opinion dealing with them from start to finish.

Thanks a lot

Couch's showroom / inventory was pretty lacking when i was there. the 99 dollar kit was probably worth it. i think i have used almost all of the items in it. If there is an accessory that you want for those first couple nights i would get it from amazon or another source. I would pack pillows, sheets, and a blanket. Cups, pots and pans, and other silverware could be useful. My suggestion would be to bring a screwdriver and maybe a small tool kit. A torque wrench with a 3/4 socket as well because it says to check wheel lugs every so many miles.

I agree with John. That is a great idea. On the $99 starter pack: we bought it. I have used the water pressure regulator, the bottle of stuff for the toilet, the toilet paper & the chocks. The cheapy stinky slinky was promptly put in a garage sale. And it didn't sell! We bought a longer Rhino hose, with the needed ends from Camping World. We also bought a clear 5"long tube that attaches to the gate valves & then the stinky slinky. Makes it handy for monitoring liquid flow & flushing requirements. We store this stuff in a covered plastic tote inside the rear street side storage area.

I agree with the idea of a shakedown trip near the seller!! I also bought my Pod from Couches in 2012, on a Saturday, and was on the road towing back home within a couple hours that afternoon (they closed at 1pm ).

What wasn't known to me at the time of delivery was that there was in fact a problem with a water leak when the water system was pressurized.
I did not see the leak until I had towed 700+ miles back home.

Not knowing much about taking things apart on a camper, I tried getting warranty service, only to find that the local dealer refused to look at it because I didn't purchase from them (yeah, I could have bought it from them, 9 miles away from me, but they wanted $3000 more than Couches, and were inflexible on their price).. So Couches did some calling, and found a Forest River dealer who didn't sell R-Pods, but was willing to do the repair work.

I had to travel 60 miles round trip for the repair, and they had to order several parts, which took a week. When I picked it up I thought I was all set.... Wrong... I got home, pressurized the system and the leak was still there, so I hunted it down myself. Hot water tank was dripping water... Took it back again, showed the tech where water was coming from. After that, he removed the heat tube assembly, and removed the electric element. It was a twisted square profile O-Ring sealing the heat element. Replaced with a new one and the leak was gone.

It was a big deal to have to go through all that extra baloney, with the towing a time spent. But I was lucky that it didn't interfere with any trips, which were later in September.

So DO stick around a couple days, and test EVERYTHING, also make sure they will be open to take care of any problems you find. You might have to wait a bit, but if you are saving a few thousand dollars, it could be worth it.
