In the latest Costco mailer starting 10/29/15 they had the Champion 2800 watt generator on sale for $699. This is the generator I have. It is enough to start my AC on my 2012 177

Running/Rated Watts: 2800 (18 amps) Peak/Starting Watts; 3100 (25 amps)
Recoil Start; Engine Size: 171cc; Engine Type:4 stroke Champion OHV w/cast iron sleeve
Clean Sine Wave – less than 5% THD – safe to run sensitive electronics
Outlets: (1) 120V 20 Amp GFCI Duplex Outlet (5-20R); (1) 120V TT-30 Outlet – for RV’s

Thanks for posting this tip.

I bought the Champion 2000 watt inverter model at the beginning of this year. So far, it hasn't missed a beat. Based on this, I'd say Champions are worth looking at, if one is in the market for a generator.

Great price for the output.  The only thing I would worry about is the small gas tank (1.6 gallons) - if it doesn't have a fuel pump.  It is much harder to add an external tank w/o it.  My Yamaha EF2400 had a 1.5 gallon tank and it lasted exactly 8 hours running the pod with the A/C and the fan on low.  Just a little bigger, like 2 gallons, would have worked much better for overnight stops, giving 12 hours of run time.
