How tight is the rubber piece supposed to be in the aluminum C-channel? We bought a used R-Dome and there is some slop in the fit. I ran just a small amount into the channel and if I pulled hard enough at the back edge I think I could just rip it out of the channel. I am wondering if we got the wrong one for our model.

What model and year RPOD do you have? Any idea how old the dome is?
Late model PODS have a 14mm keder rail. Some of the older PODS with rings have a 9mm keder rail. It's doubtful you have the wrong one if both your POD and Dome were made over the last 4 or 5 years? I not exactly sure when FR switched form 9 to 14mm. Maybe 2011? Anyway we have had several owners with the correct dome and rail still have spots where the dome would slip out. We boiled it down to an issue that flares up when sometimes during the keder rail installation the rail opens or spreads some. No big deal, the easy fix is to get a pair of vise grips, set the jaw and use to close the keder rail channel some. Easy Peazy. No problem.

We have a 2014 178 so it has the 14mm rail. I bet the dome we bought is for the 9mm with how loose it is.
I thought maybe I could insert a small PVC pipe in the rail and cut a channel in it. Just closing the rail some may also be an option. We got the dome really cheap so it was worth a try. |

We have the same thing with our dome, but have used it as is and it has not popped out of the track even when Wendy.

Good to know it stayed in. I had to pull pretty hard right at the edge to notice I cold pull it. I got some 3/8" PEX and it fits perfect in the aluminum rail. I just need to dremel a Chanel in the
PEX and the plastic piece from the R-Dome will slide in nice and snug. |

It's easier to just go along the channel with some padded vice grips and close the opening a hair. One time, no hassle fix. If you had a small keder dome, they just fall right out of the larger channel.
