Good Afternoon all, We have a new 179 and we've had a day of steady rain and we just noticed a small puddle on the floor on the right (bed) side of the slide out. Has anyone else dealt with this? Is it a seal issue?

I looked a bit closer inside and there is an inch square silver support under the slide. There was water (not a lot) in it. There is some rubber trim that runs along the front of the bench that doesn't fully cover the end of that square support. Should it? Should there be a cap on that support? Thanks again...

Was there a wind with the rain? If there was a significant wind, it could have pushed some of the rain through the seal. Otherwise, not being able to see it, it is hard to tell. Since it is new, take pictures and then take it to your dealer to see if they can spot where the rain is entering.

I think I know where its coming from....just this summer we had the same thing in our 2016, R179 in the same place. It always came in when the rain came from a certain direction so I got a ladder out and sprayed the outside while the wife watched inside and we were able to pin point the exact source of the leak.

There is a round tubular rubber gasket that runs top to bottom of the slide attached to the trailer. I think its there to help seal the slide when its in the closed position.

The round tubular gasket was torn at the top going down about 4" or so. And I found the other side was also torn.

I took it into my dealer and his tech made a repair while I was there. In fact I helped him a bit. He used a black rubber sealant (not silicone, although I think silicone would work).

There was a screw under the gasket that appeared to be run in to far that may have caused the issue. He pulled that screw and put a new one in just below the old one. A self tapping screw about 1 1/4 inch or so long. Then he put the rubber sealant into the torn gasket and pressed it all together.

Since then we have had no issues and that after several major rain storms.

I am attaching pics that show the torn gasket. If you need more info let me know.

I have attached two photos (I hope) that show what I am talking about.

Thanks for the picture, Patriot Dave. I'll definitely check that out. Sounds like that could be the culprit. I have made an appointment with the dealer to check it out since it's still under warranty.
