I've been eyeing the King Jack directional antenna for a while, but I'm concerned about how to mount it on our 179. The factory antenna is mounted directly above the dead space on the right side of the Pod behind the TV and stereo, so I couldn't mount the new antenna there because we need access to the directional knob. That means covering the factory antenna's holes and running coax across the roof to a more convenient location, probably on the left side.

Has anyone installed one of these antennas and had to do similar relocation? Any tips for covering the factory holes and fastening the coax to the roof so it doesn't flap around while driving?

I might help a little.  I installed the King Jack antenna on my class b motorhome about 4 years ago.  They had just come out with the antenna.  I replaced an omnidirectional saucer shape antenna and got 2 times the channels sitting in my drive way.  I used the self leveling caulk (dicor) all around the area.   I had to build up some courage to drill a 2 in hole in the roof.
I get close to the same amount of stations with my 179 pod's antenna so I don't think I will replace it right now.  I was able to use the same location as the original antenna.  You are right, it will be dificult to install in the Rpod to access the handle below.  Good luck.  Please let me know if and where you put it.
