Calendar Event: Soft floor repair from leak Posted: 22 Aug 2016 at 7:20pm |
I had a roof leak that has resulted in a soft floor. Has anyone else had to make a floor repair? If so, how? And cost?

Best bet is to put down Pergo. Many a "soft floor" has been fixed that way.

Still trying to figure out what a "soft floor" means in an rPod. I was under the impression the floor was polystyrene foam sandwiched with 1/8 luan (plywood). How does it become soft? Is it the 1/8 plywood that's soft?
Thanks! fred |

The floor is s soft that its not stable enough to hold the seam of the pergo together. I experimented with putting 2 pieces n the floor

That's probably right, StrongPod. If it were me, I'd probably try to cut out the soft spot (can't be very deep) and fair it out with Bondo or epoxy. Then cover with whatever. An engineered floor that looks likes an Airstream Landyacht would be nice! fred |

I suspect, if you used more than two pieces, and ran them longways in the camper, you would be surprised. I have seen it several times in both vintage campers, and pods. They are a system, that locks together. The only other option would be total floor replacement. Not cheap. |

Shouldn't need a total replacement with the foam backing...

Because of the way the floor is bonded and sandwiched, that is the proper answer.. per FR. There is no "floor repair procedure" from them. They have and can add a couple cross braces, but this at least sounds like it is beyond what that can usually help with. |
