We are still trying to find an R-Dome but have started looking at the Pahaque Visors in case we don't find a dome. Do any of you have the visor and do you like it? We were wondering if they are big enough for shade and would they keep a light rain out when the windows are open? Thanks.

It's not easy to put up and it doesn't stand up to wind very well. One of the segments of the fiberglass rod that forms the "bill" of the visor broke when a gust of wind hit the visor. To Pahaque's credit, they sent me a replacement segment free of charge.

I got the visor this summer - I was skeptical - I thought it was going to be to small to be all that useful. I really like it- it sets up easy - it is small enough to go up in tighter spots - no ground attachment so uneven ground is no problem - for weekend trips it is what I use. I really like the Rdome - but it is more work to set up and take down - it is not bug proof - I have more than once gotten up in the midddle of the night to take it down in a Tstorm. I would prefer to have the Rdome up - more space etc... than the visor - but I find myself getting much more use out of the visor.

Thanks, guys, it sounds like we need both if we can find a second-hand Dome cheap enough. We can decide which to use depending on space and weather conditions.

X1 - My dome is in the shed, just too cumbersome, I use my visor because it is relatively easy to install, provides shade and easy to bring down. Sa far as inclement weather I would not recommend leaving it installed.
Light wind and rain no issue.

Whether you go with an r-dome, the visor, or both, take a look at what's called a Clam. Completely enclosed, a snap to put up and take down, fairly weatherproof (with guy lines and rain flaps). Easier to erect than an EZ-up. More info on Amazon. When we're going to be in one place for a few nites, we usually set up the dome. It's nice stepping out of the Pod into an enclosed area. But, if it's an overnighter, or even longer, the Clam is hard to beat. The r-dome isn't much fun putting up/taking down in weather. The Clam's lots quicker & easier.
Just another data point in your search ..

Clam shelters are fascinating. We have a pop-up that we bought at Aldi. The Clam is a lot more expensive, but it looks so simple to put up and take down plus it comes with screen sides to keep bugs out. I'll have to keep it in mind when our current pop-up wears out.
